Teaching

In April of 2010, Pieter established Northlight Art Center, located in Amenia, NY, as a venue for aspiring artists to study in a professional atelier environment. He is a master teaching artist whose knowledge of techniques and materials, coupled with his wit and wisdom, are encouragement for students of all backgrounds to pursue their personal discovery through making art. He has previously taught at the Farmington Valley Art Center, West Hartford Art League and IS 183 Art School of The Berkshires as well as workshops throughout the region.
Pieter’s regular class format – Please Read
Because I teach to the individual you are welcome to work in the medium of your choice from a variety of subject matter including still life, photographs and the purely imaginative during regular class times. My teaching is about you and why you are compelled to pick up a pencil, a brush or a buttery stick of pastel. There’s no need to single out a specific medium for a given day unless it’s specified in a workshop. Class times and fees provide a timetable for you to work into your schedule. As time and space within a given class allow, I offer you flexibility in scheduling.
Simply sign up for the day of your choice, plan to attend on that day and let me know in advance when you need a make up day as long as it’s within the period for which your tuition applies. There is no carry over of make up days into a subsequent session. So, grab your watercolors, your oils and acrylics! Load up on pastels and sharpen your pencils! Enroll now for YOUR artistic journey!

My only recommendation is that you buy artist or professional grade paint over student grade as your budget allows. Water-soluble oils are welcome in class.
